Becoming a wine club member of a winery in BC
I have to be honest, I never really wanted to join a club until I learned about becoming a wine club member.
The thought of joining a wine club in the Okanagan Valley sounded like music to my ears. I mean, having access to even more perks at a place you enjoy and wines you like, and supporting a local business, sounds like a win-win, right?
Let me break down the advantages of becoming a wine club member of a winery in BC. After reading this, I’m sure the only question is: which winery do I choose to start with?
Regular shipments
Ding dong, wines delivered to your doorstep. Becoming a wine club member sets you up with a consistent stock of your favorite BC wines. A few (2 or 3) times per year, you’ll receive a shipment of wines. If you are local, some wineries give you the option to pick-up your wine box. So, how many wine bottles are we talking about? Depending on your wine membership, you can expect at least 6 bottles of wine per shipment.
Wineries host exclusive member events
A chance to mingle and raise a glass with fellow wine club members. I mean, sip and savor alongside other winery enthusiasts sounds like a dream, right? A seasonal pick-up party is a popular event held at the winery for wine club members.
Discounts
As a wine club member you’ll receive a specific discount on all purchases in store and online. This also means on other store items such as products like candles, decanters, books and so on. And it does not end here. Quails Gate, for example offers ‘partner perks’. Partner perks are exclusive benefits offered to their wine club members: discounted rates for local experiences in the Okanagan Valley. 50th Parallel Estate celebrates you, on the month of your membership anniversary, by giving you the chance to buy a bottle of current-release Pinot Gris, Rose or Gewürztraminer, for a very celebrate worthy price.
A membership for everyone
Most wineries offer different wine club memberships. This way, there is always a right fit for you. You can choose to upgrade your wine club membership along the way. This means mainly more (and different) bottles of wine to enjoy, and even more perks and discounts. Are you a Red only type? No problem, Three Sisters Winery for example, lets you pick an ‘All Red’ Membership.
Exclusivity
As mentioned before, members receive exclusive deals and offers. Think of wines that are only available for wine club members. That is quite special! If you aren’t a member yet but would like a taste of that member exclusive wine, you can ask the wine concierge during your wine tasting if there are any wine member bottles open to taste. Worth the ask. By tasting a member-exclusive wine during a tasting at Volcanic Hills Winery, I became a member that day!
Prior access and Free of Charge
Another great thing is that you will gain first access to new releases and have priority access to events and experiences. Also, a lot of wineries will give you complimentary tastings and member experiences up to a certain number of people, so you can invite friends and family to join you in a great wine experience.
Selection of wines
Wineries curate the wine packages for their members. As you can imagine, a lot of thought and love goes into selecting these wines. Many wineries also give you the option to replace selected wines with wines you would like to enjoy. Talking about customization.
Words from a BC winery
Now that I’ve discussed the benefits of joining a wine club of a winery in BC, let me conclude with the words of a local winery. I asked Three Sisters Winery, why people would want to join their wine club.
“We would hope that people want to join our wine club not only to take advantage of some great benefits, but also to enjoy a space (in the literal sense at our winery, but also in a figurative sense for each member at home) for our members to connect with people over a great bottle of wine. Ultimately we want all of our Wine Club members to feel like part of our own family, and we want our shipments to feel like we are enjoying wine together with our members from afar. We believe that each glass of wine has a unique ability to bring people together and create lasting memories!”
I couldn’t agree more with Three Sisters Winery. If you become a wine club member, you become part of a family. Ultimately, it is all about connection.
Cheers!
